Organic SEO: A Lot Cooler Than a Chia Pet

I don’t know if you remember back in the 80s, when Chia Pets experienced their “peak” of popularity… but it’s never been much of a peak, in my experience. Chia pets aren’t cool – but organic SEO is. See, organic SEO lets your web site become well indexed (and because of that, noticeable to your intended niche) for what it is, instead of trying to “jury-rig” the site in a bunch of fancy, fake ways.

When you buy a Chia Pet, you get a little ceramic object which is intended to be covered in a strange, mud-like seed mixture. Over time, it grows, and you have a plant that may or may not be hard to kill. See, I’ve never had a Chia Pet – growing something so ridiculous just seems bizarre to me. I personally only like to grow useful things… I don’t know about anybody else, and I won’t pry into their personal business.

But I do know that organic SEO is VERY cool – so cool, in fact, that your competitors are already practicing it, whether by name or simply by instinct. They’ve most likely figured out (or at least given serious thought to) their target readers, and begun writing the best possible content for that group. Have you?

And I’d bet dollars to donuts that they’ve been indexed by the major search engines of the world. And, of course, that means they’ve been spotted, visited, and are showing their readers all kinds of value. Which means that if they’re selling something, there’s a good likelihood they’ve got an e-mailing list nicely packed with eager buyers.

If I had to compare the two, I would say that Chia Pets do nothing for their owners but take up space, add a touch of “class” (quite possibly the “special” class), and perhaps replace a little oxygen in the air. But organic SEO doesn’t just grow — it grows your site.

Organic SEO adds a very important aspect to your site – viewers. If you don’t have viewers, it turns into a philosophical question; “If a site goes up on the Net, and nobody sees it, does it really exist?
